This project was designed and made in collaboration with Sophy Simson. Henry Purcells baroque semi-opera The Fairy Queen features a character Pheobus based on the sun god Apollo. Symbolic to life, warmth and light, Sophy and I designed each element of this opera costume to embody the sun. Set in a 1660s silhouette we were inspired by King Louis XIV court costume known as the Sun King and the motif of the suns face on the Golden Gate of Versailles.
